So if you want to do something a little different than a traditional wedding cake, cupcakes are a really fun alternative and they’re just as delicious. I decided to do cupcakes for my wedding, because I love cake, and cupcakes look so pretty on a tier, especially decorated with little flowers in between. The tier I used was a classic silver tier, I wanted a see through perspex tier but I couldn’t find one so I chose the silver and was much happier with it in the end. The cupcakes I chose were a larger size, I think its good to give a decent amount of cake to everyone! I had a summer wedding so the colours for the icing on top of the cupcake were soft pastels lilac’s ,baby blue, mint greens and pinks , the sponge was vanilla flavour with custard in the center, and to finish it all off a dust of sparkle dust sprinkled over.
My ceremony was at 4 in the afternoon, it was about 30min long, so not too long, but I know when I’m at a wedding I always get hungry after a ceremony waiting around for the bride and groom to take pictures, then its the waiting around at the reception for the speeches and all you want is a bread roll, when dinner is finally called, your one of the last tables to be called up for the buffet line… I decide not to put my guests through all that, so I ‘cut the cake’ straight after my wedding ceremony, we all moved to a lovely set up of garden chairs and tables in the garden , pink champagne was served and while my hubby and I were getting all the pictures taken , guests could mingle watching the sunset while listening to music, drinking champagne and eating up all the cupcakes. I found my guests really liked this idea, it kept everyone’s energy high, it gave them something to do rather then just wait around for us taking pic’s which can take up to an hour, so they could also have a good time
